We provide quality live music! George and The West 79th Street Funk Jazz Band hopes to bring to the mainstream a jazz consciousness with its own style of creative grooves, break beats, that will fill your hearts with rhythm and soul.

Formed in 2003, the Los Angeles West 79th Street Funk Jazz Band was formerly a house band for "The Kitchen on 43rd street" restaurant once located in Leimert Park, California. In the beginning, the band played live music consisting of straight ahead and fusion jazz.  As the band matured, various requests were made expanding their repertoire to various genres.

The band has hosted for public entities of the likes of the Mayor of Los Angeles to Hollywood Celebrities.

The entertainment group has been featured in articles, magazines, and newspapers such as the Burbank Business Journal, L. A Weekly, San Fernando Business Journal, and many more. The ensemble has also been given an opportunity to interview and entertain live performances on radio and television as well.

You will dance the night away to great live music as we can compose your special songs. We will help you through every part of the process. Everything can be done with a few short clicks online. Our musicians are skilled to create an ambiance to your liking so your event will have that spark. Remember these are special moments to you, your family, co-workers, and friends.

Let us host your next event.

"Music is a gift that is sacred
I hope you didn't use it hoping you could grow to it
Whether serving or a surgeon, you gon' go through it
Can't imagine going through it, without soul music
It's like Donnie Hath' helped me see Lonnie's path
On my behalf, let's take whole steps to Imhotep
And show depth, as we make people nod
Find heaven in this music and God"
